The “Joining Hands to Relieve the Pain of Agent Orange (AO) Victims” programme will be held at Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theatre on the morning of 7 June.  It will be broadcast live on VTV Da Nang and VTV 4 channels.
Organised by the city’s Association of AO Victims, the annual programme appeals for donations from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations for over 5,000 local AO victims.

This year’s programme will feature deserving examples of local AO victims who have done their utmost to overcome their difficulties, and will introduce stories about domestic and foreign generous donors.  In addition, the Da Nang Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre for Agent Orange/dioxin victims, which has operated since February, will be advertised at the event.  The medial centre, which is now under the control of the Association of AO Victims, provides dioxin detoxification and healthcare services for AO victims and those who have been exposed to the toxic defoliants.

Between January and May, the city’s Association of AO Victims raised 2 billion VND from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations.  The donations were used to help nearly 350 local AO-affected children.  In addition, presents and cash were given to 3,000 local AO people whilst free medical examinations were also provided for 20 AO victims.  Moreover, 50 poor families received emergency financial assistance.

Please call the hotlines 19000496 or 19009469 for further information about the operating activities of the Association of AO Victims and its meaningful programme.
