Large-capacity fisheries support ship launched
Many ships from Da Nang’s Fishery Logistics Service Team No 1 make trips to the Hoang Sa (Paracel) fishing grounds to support local offshore fishing vessels when they are operating there. The logistics service ships can supply fuel and necessary provisions to the fishing vessels, as well as be involved with buying the seafood caught at sea directly from the fishermen.
On Wednesday morning, the family of Mr Le Toan from Hai Chau District’s Thuan Phuoc Ward launched the DNa 90611-TS support ship, the second such ship his family has built. The 3.2 billion VND, 850 horsepower and 24m-long ship can operate at a maximum speed of 12 nautical miles per hour, and can store 50 tons of goods or fish products. The launch of the large-capacity mother ship has brought happiness to Mr Toan’s family and the offshore fishermen who are fishing in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly) waters.

On Thursday afternoon, a group of logistics service ships and offshore fishing vessels from Thuan Phuoc Ward began their trips to the Hoang Sa waters. Meanwhile, the authorities of the districts of Son Tra and Thanh Khe are becoming actively involved in encouraging local fishermen to make their next fishing trips to Viet Nam’s territorial waters. This will help those who are on duty protecting the nation’s sovereignty by boosting the opposition to China’s illegal positioning of the HD-981 oil drilling rig. In addition, it will boost the confidence of local fishermen whose boats are operating in those waters.
