Children's Cultural Palace promised
The existing 6,000m2 Da Nang Children’s House at 10 Ly Tu Trong Street has been operating for 35 years. It was one of the first children’s houses in Viet Nam, but it is now the smallest in the central region and highlands. It operates as a centre which offers training courses in extracurricular subjects for local children.
Currently, the house is facing a shortage of indoor and outdoor entertainment areas and other facilities. In addition, its learning rooms have seriously deteriorated. The toilet areas are wet and damp whilst the meeting hall and other rooms are old. During each summer season, the house usually enrols over 3,000 local children for training courses in English and extracurricular subjects. However, there are up to 5 classes per day with over 30 learners in each due to a shortage of rooms.
Following approval last year by the city authorities, the Children’s Cultural Palace will be built on an area of 33,335m2 in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward. It will be bounded by the city’s 2 September Peace Monument on its northern side, a newly-built road to the south, the Sun Group-developed Asia Park to the east, and the 2 September Street on the west. The main and secondary entrances to the palace will be next to the entrances to the Asia Park’s multi-functional hall. In addition, there will be grass and tree-planted areas, parking lots, internal roads, and other necessary facilities to ensure a pleasant surrounding landscape.
The Children’s Cultural Palace project aims to make Da Nang a cultural hub in the central region and highlands in the near future.
