Outstanding achievements in dealing with social order crimes

Between January and June, Da Nang’s police officers have dealt with 248 violations of social order, and 186 of those investigations have been completed.  During the period, local police officers have captured 16 people involved in 4 criminal gangs, and discovered and convinced 59 wanted fugitives to give themselves up.  In addition, administrative punishments were imposed on 1,000 people involved in 260 cases of illegal gambling. 

Over the period, the city’s Drug Prevention and Control Force has arrested 76 suspects in 52 cases of trading and storing illegal drugs.  In addition, a total of 588 drug addicts, and those who use drugs illegally, have been detected and dealt with.

The information was released at a recent meeting to review the performance of the city’s Department of Police over the first 6 months of this year, and to discuss their tasks for the second half of the year.

Addressing the event, the Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, highly applauded the remarkable achievements of the local police force.  He stressed the need for them to make greater efforts to ensure social order and security in the city.

To mark the occasion, a total of 25 million VND from the city’s budget was presented to the city’s Social Order-related Crime Investigation Division, the city’s Criminal Science and Technology Office, and the Lien Chieu District Police Station.  These units were honoured for successfully and quickly dealing with a serious murder case which occurred in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Bac Ward on 17 June.
