After receiving an SOS message at 11.35am on Tuesday from fishing boat DNa 6730, the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out rescue ship SAR 274 to help the crew members in distress.

The fishing boat with 7 fishermen on board had suffered an engine breakdown while they were fishing at latitude 16°26'N and longitude 108°03'E, and they were  adrift.  Also, a fisherman on board, Le Cong Lung, was suffering from severe abdominal pains, and he could not eat or drink anything.

After many hours of unsuccessfully trying to repair the engine, the crew sent an SOS message to the Coastal Information Station.

After 2 hours, the SAR 274 arrived at the scene, and the patient was transferred to the rescue ship for treatment.  The fishing boat was then towed back to the mainland.
