At 12.45pm last Saturday, a large fire broke out in the Phu Hoa shop at 35 Ly Thai To Street in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District.  The shop specialises in selling cosmetics, hair cutting tools, and other beauty care products.

According to 53-year-old Le Van Hai, who is a member of Thac Gian Ward’s militia force, a loud explosion was heard coming from the 3^rd floor of the shop, followed by a large blaze.

Eight fire engines, two rescue vehicles, and two extension ladder trucks, along with over 80 firefighters from the city’s Department of Fire Fighting and Prevention, arrived on the scene quickly. Thanks to the great efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was completely extinguished within 40 minutes.

Fortunately, there were no human injuries, but the fire destroyed almost all of the 2^nd and the 3^rd floors of the shop. 

The firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to approach the scene due to the large amount of chemicals stored in the building.  About ten of them suffered from smoke inhalation and exhaustion, and they were taken to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
