Police in Da Nang’s Hai Chau District have arrested 24-year-olds Nguyen Quang Nghia and Nguyen Ngoc Hau, and 20-year-old Luong Quang Vinh, all from Son Tra District, for “snatching and grabbing personal property”.

At 7pm on 3 August, 22-year-old Nguyen Thi Giang from Hai Duong and her friend were walking along Ly Tu Trong Street when Nghia and Hau, riding a Yamaha Exciter motorbike, snatched a handbag from Giang.  The handbag contained a Canon camera, an LG cellphone, some glasses, and over 1.2 million VND in cash.

After receiving a call from the victim, the Da Nang PC65 Police Unit quickly pursued the suspects along roads across the city, and then arrested the suspects on Ho Nghinh Street. 

At the Hai Chau District Police Station, they both pleaded guilty to the robbery charges.  According to Nghia’s confession, he and his accomplice Vinh had previously snatched a handbag from 39-year-old Jung Sao Jung from South Korea who had been walking on Vo Nguyen Giap Street on 28 July.  That handbag had contained 6 million VND in cash and some of the victim’s personal papers.
