On Wednesday morning, 43-year-old fisherman Nguyen Van Nghia had his right armpit stabbed by an iron hook when he and 8 other fishermen on fishing boat QNg 94589 were fishing at latitude 17°54'N and longitude 111°06'E.

After receiving an SOS message from the boat, the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out rescue ship SAR 274 to the scene.  The injured crew member was then brought back to the mainland for treatment.
