International nurse education programme trainees receive certificates
Twenty-seven trainees who have completed an intensive nursing course on newborn infants received their certificates from the UK’s Canterbury Christ Church University on Tuesday morning. Their certificates are equivalent to a Level 4 diploma in the UK’s education system. Present at the event was the British Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr Giles Lever, and the Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Huynh Duc Tho.
The training programme in Da Nang was the first of its kind in Viet Nam. It was jointly organised by the Canterbury Christ Church University, the Newborns Viet Nam organisation, the municipal Department of Health, the city’s Technical University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.

The 18-month-long training course taught intensive care nursing skills to the 27 nurses from the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital’s Neonatal Recovery Department. This will help them to improve their care of newborn infants and their mothers, as well as reduce neonatal mortality.
