Two months after launching the “Joint Efforts for the Homeland's Sea and Islands” campaign, over 20 billion VND has been raised for supporting the Vietnamese marine police and fisheries surveillance forces.  More than 19 billion VND of it was raised after 1 million text messages were sent to the National Humanitarian Switchboard 1400 by citizens nationwide.  In addition, 1.6 billion VND in cash was donated by over 100 individuals and organisations from across the country.

These figures were released at a meeting held in Ha Noi on Thursday afternoon to review the results of the campaign.  The event was co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, the Central Red Cross Association, the VTC Digital Television Station, the National Humanitarian Switchboard 1400, the Viet Nam Television Station, the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper, and the website Go.vn.
