The owner of the fishing boat from Da Nang which was capsized by a Chinese ship on 26 May, Mrs Huynh Thi Nhu Hoa, yesterday said that the city’s Bac My An Shipbuilding Cooperative is to build a new wooden-hulled fishing boat for her family to continue its offshore trips to the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa fishing grounds.
The 1,000CV, 21.5m-long, 6.2m-wide and 3.5m-high boat, which has been designed by a company in Vung Tau and is similar to those built in Thailand, will be able to withstand wind speeds up to level 11. The boat is expected to be completed within 90 days at a cost of around 7 billion VND, and Mrs Hoa is applying for a 5 billion VND bank loan from a local credit institution.
