Thermal imaging cameras installed to detect Ebola patients
A total of 4 thermal imaging cameras have already been installed at Da Nang International Airport and the Da Nang Port border gate. The new machines, bought from the city’s budget, will help to screen for sick travellers as local health authorities scramble to avert any outbreak of Ebola virus.
The Director of the city's Centre for International Health Quarantine, Mr Tram Truc Lam, said that his centre had received some medical equipment from Nha Trang City’s Pasteur Institute. They were 25 sets of waterproof protective clothing, along with some sterilising solution which will be sprayed at the city’s airport and port border gate.

Mr Lam noted that Da Nang welcomes a large number of foreign tourists arriving on an average of 12 international flights every day. However, the city is facing a shortage of inspection staff, and they are having to work around the clock at the 2 locations in order to promptly detect anyone suspected of carrying the Ebola disease.
All international passengers arriving in the city by air will have their body temperatures measured. Anyone showing any symptoms of Ebola will first be taken to an isolation room in the old airport building, and then on to Da Nang General Hospital, which has been selected to accept any Ebola patients.
