Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine opens
On Wednesday morning, the Central Region Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine was officially opened at the Da Nang General Hospital. Similar centres have already been established in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Present at the inauguration were the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairmen Nguyen Xuan Anh and Huynh Duc Tho, along with the sponsors from South Korea and the East Meets West Foundation (EMW).

The centre is equipped with synchronous and advanced medical equipment which helps to detect cancer early, and cardiovascular and neurological diseases. The medical systems include a cyclotron system to produce quantities of radioactive isotopes, a radiopharmacy production and distribution system, and a PET/CT imaging system. The new centre’s equipment cost 12 million USD in total. Of this, 10 million USD came from South Korea’s ODA capital, and the remainder was from the State budget. In addition, EMW donated about 4 million USD to build the centre’s infrastructure.
The cost of medical examinations at this centre will be lower than at the centres in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, and treatment costs will be reduced for patients with health insurance cards.
