On Tuesday morning, over 26 workers from Da Nang's Nhat Hoang Seafood Company denounced the company’s director for not paying social insurance premiums for them over the last 23 months.

The victims have worked for the company since 2007.  Under the Social Insurance Law, the company has to deduct 165,000 VND from each of its employees' monthly salaries to pay for their social insurance.  However, the company did not pay social insurance premiums for some of their workers between September 2012 and May 2014.

In May 2014, the company faced many difficulties and it was forced to lay off some its workers.  Then, the sacked workers went to a local insurance agent to receive their social insurance books and unemployment allowances.  However, they discovered that the company had not paid their social insurance premiums since September 2012.

The Head of the city’s Social Insurance Collection Office, Mr Van Phu Long, said that the Nhat Hoang Seafood Company owes more than 1.3 billion VND for social insurance premiums since September 2012.  He added that it would be one of several local companies to be sued in court by the city’s social insurance agent.
