Fishing boats rescued after engines breakdown
At 11.00am on Sunday 12 October, fishing boat DNa 90412 from the city’s Lien Chieu District suffered engine failure whilst fishing about 31 nautical miles off the Da Nang coast with a crew of 14 onboard. At 3.40pm the Da Nang Coastal Information Station (DCIS) received an SOS message from the boat and then asked local fishing boat DNa 90072 which was operating nearby to rescue the boat. At dawn yesterday DNa 90412 was towed back to the mainland by DNa 90072, and all the crew are now safe and in good health.
At 8:30am yesterday, fishing boat DNa 90297 from Da Nang with 28 crew members on board had a similar problem whilst it was fishing at sea about 135 nautical miles east-northeast of the Da Nang coast. After receiving an SOS message, the DCIS asked a local fishing boat operating nearby, DNa 90499, to help the boat in distress. The rescue work is now underway.
