Locally grown flowers to be displayed during Tet festival 2015
At the request of the Da Nang Construction Planning Institute, floral displays will be made at 54 venues across the city. Accordingly, the municipal government and the local district authorities will appeal for donations from local individuals and organisations to decorate 22 and 32 locations respectively.
The displays will be based on ideas from the prize-winning entries at a contest which was organised in August to find the best ideas for floral displays and lighting decorations for the Tet festival 2015. Top priority will be given to displaying the types of flowers which are suitable for the local climate and can therefore be grown in the city. These include crystal daisies, chrysanthemums, marigolds, dahlias, gerbera, sunflowers, lilies, pansies, phaleanopsis and impatiens walleriana.

The city’s Green Trees-Park Company will work closely with local relevant agencies to sign purchase contracts with local flower-growers. Special attention will be paid to negotiating prices as well as to ensuring the quality and quantity of flowers for display. However, the city’s leaders suggested that the company should also purchase other kinds of flowers, sourced from other localities, in order to make local flower streets more colourful and attractive during the festival.
With regard to lighting decorations, ideas from entries which won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes at the above-mentioned contest will be used. Lighting systems are scheduled to be installed at 25 venues in local urban and rural areas, and the cost for the installation will be funded from donations from local individuals and organisations.
