At 9.52am on Saturday, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station (DCIS) received an SOS message from Captain Bui Van Thanh's fishing boat DNa-90388 TS from Da Nang.  The boat, with 6 fishermen on board, had begun sinking whilst fishing in Thua Thien Hue Province’s waters at latitude 16°37’N and longitude 108°11’E.

The DCIS asked local and regional search and rescue units, along with fishing vessels operating nearby, to help the boat in distress.  As a result, fishing boat QT-90099 TS quickly reached the sinking boat and saved the lives of the 6 fishermen.  Fishing boat QT-90255 TS then also arrived at the scene to help tow the boat in distress back to the mainland.
