At 6.30pm on Sunday, Da Nang’s Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) received an SOS message from fishing boat BD 97154 TS from Binh Dinh Province.  According to the boat’s owner, 58-year-old fisherman Minh started with sickness and diarrhea and he could not speak whilst he and his crewmates were fishing about 70 nautical miles north-east of the Da Nang coast.

The Da Nang MRCC put the crew in contact with doctors at the city’s emergency centre to receive initial first aid instructions, and at the same time the rescue ship SAR 412 was sent out to help.  By 11.10pm the same day, despite the harsh weather conditions with level 6 and 7 winds, SAR 412 arrived at the scene and the patient was transferred to the rescue ship for treatment.

At 1.45am the next day, the patient arrived back safely to the Da Nang MRCC for further treatment.
