A number of blood donation campaigns are being launched in Da Nang between now and 8 February.  The aim is to collect more units of blood to use in case of emergency situations during the 9-day Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival break.

On Tuesday morning (27 January) over 800 students from the University of Education together donated 617 units of blood, whilst more than 500 units were collected from the Architecture University’s students.

In addition, voluntary blood donation programmes are being launched in Hai Chau and Hoa Vang districts, and at the University of Economics, the junior colleges of Technology and Commerce, and the DMC-579 Student Dormitory.

The city’s Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, along with the local Youth Unions and the Red Cross Association, have already made a list of local donors who have rare blood types, and people who are willing to give blood, if needed, even on Lunar New Year's Eve or the 1st day of the Tet Festival.
