Environmental pollution problems resolved
Over the 6 years since the start of the “Building Da Nang into an Environmentally-friendly City in the 2008 - 2014 Period” project, many of the city’s environmental pollution problems have been effectively dealt with and the city has received many international environmental protection awards.
During the period, the problems at 12 local hot spots of pollution have been fully resolved. They are the Dao Xanh (Green Island) and Dam Rong lakes, the Thuan Phuoc channel, the wastewater collection system running along Pham Van Dong Street, the Lien Chieu, Hoa Khanh, and Hoa Cam industrial parks, the Thanh Vinh industrial complex, the Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Khanh Son waste dump, the Phu Loc River, and the seaside sluice gates along the Son Tra-Dien Ngoc route.

In addition, wastewater discharged from 6 local industrial parks and 1 industrial complex has been treated at 5 dedicated wastewater treatment plants, and the treatment quality at 4 of these plants has met the city’s effluent discharge standards.
The problem of air pollution at the Thanh Vinh industrial complex has been resolved, and 93% of domestic waste and 100% of medical waste has been collected and treated effectively. A domestic waste treatment plant to produce gas and electricity at the city’s Khanh Son waste dump has been put into operation.
