Over 2.4 billion VND raised during Month for the Poor
More than 2.4 billion VND was raised in Da Nang during the Month for the Poor 2014 which ran from 17 October to 18 November.
In particular, Party organisations of the city’s government agencies donated over 849 million VND, whilst those of local businesses and industrial parks contributed more than 251 million VND and over 38 million VND respectively. In addition, over 1 billion VND came from the city’s organisations, local businesses and religious organisations.

In addition, financial aid has been given to help repair the houses of 431 local families, social policy beneficiaries and War Veterans' Association members. All of them were living in difficult circumstances. Importance was also attached to supporting the livelihoods of poor local residents, providing financial assistance to help those with life-threatening diseases, giving Tet gifts to poor households, and granting scholarships to studious poor students. These charitable activities accounted for a total of over 17.8 billion VND.
This year, top priority will be given to publicising the local poverty reduction programmes and the significance of the “Day for the Poor 2015” on 17 October. The city will aim to raise a total of 20 billion VND for the city’s “Fund for the Poor” by the end of this year.
