According to the Da Nang Labour Federation, 1 billion VND has been spent on buying Tet gifts, worth 500,000 VND each, for 2,000 poor local government employees.  The purpose is to help them to celebrate a warm and happy Tet Festival. 

On Monday (26 January), 300 of them received their gifts and the remainder will get theirs in the next few days.

In addition, gifts valued at 400,000 VND each will be donated to 190 local fishermen and local government employees who come from other localities and cannot afford to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.  The cost of these gifts came from the Fund for the Poor of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee, the Golden Heart Fund of the (Lao Dong) Labour Newspaper, along with donations from the city’s branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and other generous donors.
