Abundance of rustic specialities in local markets
The joyful Tet atmosphere is reaching every corner of Da Nang. All the local markets are bustling with trade as large numbers of local shoppers are very busy selecting their favourite foods for the forthcoming Tet Festival.
A wide range of eye-catching Tet goods are now on sale in the local markets. Many specialities from rural areas in the central region are among the favourite Tet foods of local residents. These include “banh in” (snow-flaked cakes sprinkled with powdered sugar) and “banh kho me” (dried sesame seed cakes) from local rural areas, and “banh trang” (soft rice paper) from Quang Nam Province’s Dai Loc District.

Visitors to the Con Market will be impressed by a stall selling irresistibly delicious specialities from Hoi An City including “banh dau xanh” (cakes made of green beans), “banh nep” (glutinous rice cakes filled with green beans and lard) and “banh su se” (yellow-coloured wedding pastries).
On sale at some of the stalls in the Han Market are garlic from Quang Ngai Province’s Ly Son Island and dried lotus seeds from Hue and Hoi An cities, in addition to locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables.
Meanwhile, many live backyard chickens which have been raised in rural areas are now available at the Hoa Khanh Market.
These rustic specialities are indispensable Tet foods in every local household and help to make the festival cozier and happier.
