DA NANG Today
Published: February 06, 2015

In these days leading up to the Tet Festival, Da Nang is seeing a sharp increase in the spending of local residents on electronic goods and other consumer products.  Many local electronics supermarkets and stores have launched promotions which seem to have succeeded in attracting shoppers.

Attractive discounts on products such as televisions and refrigerators are now available at many local electronics stores.  In some outlets, promotional gifts like electric grills and sets of plates are being offered with purchases of televisions.

Meanwhile, many local stores selling computers and cell phones are also offering attractive discounts to their customers, along with free-of-charge memory cards, handbags, ear phones and other items.

According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, 419 promotions have been offered during January across the city.

Mr Doan Ngoc Minh from the city’s Standards and Consumer Protection Association said that his unit last year received and handled 39 complaints from local consumers, particularly about the guarantees on their purchases.

Mr Minh stressed the need for consumers to be highly cautious of discounted items in order to avoid being sold poor quality products.  He suggested that consumers should only take advantage of promotions which have been registered with the local relevant agencies.
