Da Nang will cancel all firework shows in the city on the occasion of the lunar New Year to show respect to Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyen Ba Thanh, a native of Da Nang who passed away on February 13.

The municipal People’s Committee announced the decision following the official’s death. The city earlier planned to set off fireworks in four places to usher in the Year of the Goat.

A ceremony to announce Viet Nam’s biggest national map made by flowers scheduled for February 14 has also been suspended for the same reason.
