Vietnamese fishermen on board a fishing boat operating off the coast of Nha Trang City found and rescued two Russian men who were lying motionless on a motorboat drifting at sea on Monday morning, the local border guard force reported.  The two foreigners had been taken ashore safely.

Nguyen Tan Nguyen, 32, the captain of the fishing boat, KH 97787 TS, said he handed the foreigners, Klagv Vitor Vaxileta, 56, and Bagetxki Denix Alexangrvir, 32, to the border gate station in Cam Hai Dong Commune, Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province on the afternoon of the same day.

Nguyen reported to the station that he and six fishermen were fishing on their boat near Hon Noi Island, about 15 nautical miles off Nha Trang, this morning when they discovered a powerboat drifting at sea.

When getting close to the motorboat, Nguyen saw the foreigners lying immobile, likely due to exhaustion, on their vessel.

Nguyen and his crew then moved the foreigners from their motorboat to the fishing boat and gave them first aid.

After receiving care, the foreigners gradually recovered and the rescuers fed them instant noodles and milk.

Nguyen reported the case to competent agencies and towed the powerboat ashore at Bai Dai Beach in Cam Hai Dong Commune at 1:30 pm.

At the said border gate station, the foreigners told border guards that after drinking liquor, they hired a motorboat to take a cruise off the Nha Trang coast.

After a while, the powerboat ran out of fuel and drifted freely at sea for hours, causing them to be exhausted due to lack of food and drinking water, the Russian tourists said.

The local border guard force is carrying out necessary procedures to hand over the foreigners to competent agencies.
