A launch ceremony for the Earth Hour 2015 initiative, themed “Saving Energy to Cope with Climate Change”, took place in Da Nang last Sunday.  Organised by the General Department of Energy under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the event was attended by leaders from the city authorities and relevant agencies, plus around 2,000 young people from local schools and voluntary clubs.

The event featured the signing of commitments to protect the environment and to implement a cycling programme around the city in response to Earth Hour, a paper fashion design competition, a flashmob show, a musical performance and a chain in the shape of 60+ - the Earth Hour logo.  Leaflets have been distributed about Earth Hour and commitment signatures have been collected from the local enterprises, businesses and households who will take part in Earth Hour.

In response to Earth Hour 2015, lights and non-essential electrical equipment will be turned off in cities and provinces nationwide between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on 28 March.
