Rare animal released back into nature reserve

On Monday, a rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) was released back into Da Nang’s Son Tra Nature Reserve by the GreenViet Biodiversity Conservation Centre in Da Nang and the Son Tra-Ngu Hanh Son Forest Ranger Division.
Earlier, the near 6kg animal had been caged while searching for food by the owner of the Moc Mien coffee shop located at the foot of the Son Tra mountain.

The rhesus macaque belongs to Group IIB which are rare animals restricted from being held in captivity, hunted, traded or killed. However, the use of this type of animal for the purpose of scientific research is permitted.
