Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Tran Tho and municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho recently met with 101 families who will be affected by the rebuilding of the Con Market.  They all live in 4 residential areas in Hai Chau District’s Hai Chau No 2 Ward.

The majority of the families are living in small or rented houses, and they are small-scale traders in the market.  However, their houses are seriously downgraded because they have not been improved over the past 40 years.

At the meeting, the residents all supported the city’s policy regarding site clearance and relocation which will allow them to move to better places to stabilise their lives, as well as facilitating the rebuilding of the Con Market.

Secretary Tho said that he and the other city leaders are willing to listen to opinions from the local families regarding site clearance, compensation and relocation.  In particular, the families are being allowed to choose whether they will be compensated for their houses or land lots at the market price at the time of site clearance, or at the price stipulated by the city along with other benefits.

The city’s relevant agencies will conduct surveys of the 101 families affected by the project.  The city has already prepared resettlement land lots for the affected families, which means that they can build their new houses before moving from their old ones.
