On Tuesday, the Hai Son Shipbuilding and Repairing Company of Da Nang-based Song Thu Corporation began the building of 2 steel-hulled fishing vessels, namely V040-QNa1 and V040-QNa3, for fishermen Phan Thu and Tran Cong Chi respectively from Quang Nam Province’s Thang Binh District.

The 822CV, 25.2m-long, 6.5m-wide and 3.1m-high vessels will feature welded structures and variable-pitch propellers.  These diesel-electric powered vessels will use drag nets to catch seafood which will then be stored in the ships’ insulated ice compartments.

V040-QNa1 and V040-QNa3 are the first fishing boats in the province to be built under Government Decree No 67/2014/ND-CP regarding fisheries development policies which allow Vietnamese fishermen to access loans for building new boats from the government’s 10 trillion VND credit package.
