A campaign to collect 2,000 signatures from Da Nang’s citizens, especial local young people and students, to protest against nuclear weapons was organised in the city on 8 and 9 April by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO).
The event took place at the city’s College of Foreign Languages, the Da Nang English and Friendship Club, and the Dong Du and Sakura Japanese language centres.
The campaign marked the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, and was in response to the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which will be held from 27 April - 22 May at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
