Since opening to traffic on 29 March, Da Nang’s Hue T-junction overpass has played a vital role in promoting the development of tourism, trade and transportation at the city’s northern gateway.

The new junction has attracted a great deal of attention from local residents and visitors.  Most notably, its fine art lighting system, which is turned on every night, makes the site sparkle.

Mr Le Van Thanh, a tour guide from Ho Chi Minh City-based An Suong Travel Company said that his company often brings tourists from the South to Da Nang.  He added that their guests are often taken to visit the bridges spanning the Han River and they are deeply impressed with these beautiful constructions.  Mr Thanh also said that his company, and many other ones in the Southern region, have added the Hue T-junction overpass onto the list of Da Nang’s popular night tourist attractions for the tours offered to their customers.

Traders on the section of Thanh Khe District’s Ton Duc Thang Street between the city’s coach station and the Hue T-junction are very happy now that the construction of the overpass has been completed and traffic is back to normal.

Small traders at the district’s Hoa My Market said that the number of shoppers to the market was halved during the construction period.  However, this figure has now recovered and the market is expected to welcome even more buyers in the near future.

Those involved in passenger transport services have enjoyed great benefits from the new overpass.  Local bus drivers remarked that, since the opening of the overpass, their buses have always been crowded with passengers.  In addition, the traffic flow at the site has been considerably improved and the previous traffic congestion has been relieved.

In the near future, when the section of the north-west traffic axis No 1 is put into use, the Hue T-junction overpass will bring even more benefits to the city’s progress.  It will link the coastal areas along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with the inner city.
