Illegal trading activities in front of the Da Nang General Hospital and many sleazy areas near the Chi Lang Stadium were tackled. Local environmental pollution hotspots, including the Tho Quang fishing wharf and Thac Gian Lake, were also completely resolved.
Awnings and canvases on local main streets such as Tran Phu, Bach Dang, Le Duan and Nguyen Van Linh were also removed. Green trees were planted on pavements along 44 local streets, and overhead power cables above 11 local streets were replaced by underground ones.
These figures were released at Wednesday’s meeting to review the implementation of the city’s “Year for Culture and Urban Civilisation” programme over the past 3 months.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vo Cong Tri stressed the need for local relevant agencies to raise awareness of local residents about making Da Nang a cultural, civilised, clean and beautiful city, and to increase their responsibilities for the issue.
