Sharp increase in number of drug-addicts voluntarily undergoing detoxification
On Wednesday, the Da Nang Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control reviewed its performance over the 1st quarter of this year.
Between January and March, the great efforts made by the Department in enhancing drug detoxification programmes significantly contributed to ensuring the city’s social security. Over the period, 27 local drug-addicts voluntarily underwent detoxification at local rehabilitation centres, whilst there were only 2 reported in the same period last year. Many local drug-addicts were provided with suitable rehabilitative services and methadone programmes.
With regard to the main tasks for the remainder of the year, the focus will be on effectively monitoring the number of addicts across the city. Stronger measures will be taken to prevent and combat prostitution as well as increase the management of drug detoxification programmes and the offenders after rehabilitation.
