30 children receive free cleft lip and palate surgery
On Monday, a group of doctors from the Da Nang Fellow Countrymen’s Association in Ho Chi Minh City provided free surgery for 30 local children with cleft lips and palates at Da Nang’s Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.
The programme is funded by Smile Train, the world’s leading children’s charity for providing cleft palate surgery to those in need.
In addition, the group members presented gifts to the children in recognition of the upcoming International Children's Day (1 June). The visiting doctors also introduced facial shaping techniques to their colleagues from the city’s Odonto-Maxillo-Facial Centre.
Last year, 122 children with cleft lips and palates from the central region and highlands similarly received free surgery by the Association’s doctors at the city’s hospital.
