Two baggage-scanning systems installed at airport
Two new baggage-scanning systems have been installed at Da Nang International Airport by the Customs Division in order to detect drugs and other prohibited items which might be cleverly hidden in air passengers’ luggage.
Over recent years, customs officers at the airport have successfully discovered illegal acts such as transporting foreign currency, weapons and debauched cultural products.
In August 2014, the customs officers found over 5kg of a drug precursor in a suspicious package which was being sent by a person in the city to a receiver in Australia. As a result, one group and one individual from the airport’s Customs Division were honoured with Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister in recognition of their outstanding achievements in dealing with the case.
