The General Department of Viet Nam Customs’ Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, the Police Department for the Prevention and Control of Smuggling (C47) under the General Police Department, and the Da Nang Customs Department, on Thursday seized a total of nearly one ton of elephant tusks and rhino horns which had been illegally imported through the city’s Tien Sa Port.

The illegal items had been imported from Mozambique by the city’s Van An Company located on the 2 September Street in Hoa Cuong Bac Ward.  The items were hidden inside imitation marble statues made of Styrofoam which were placed in 2 containers transported by the Liberia-registered container ship King Brian.

The case is still under investigation.
