At 8.04am on Monday, 39-year-old crewman Nguyen Nam from  Da Nang’s fishing boat DNa 90569 TS was injured in an accident whilst his boat was fishing to the north of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago at latitude 17°40’N and longitude 112°20’E.

A cable had hit Nam's head and he had fainted with severe blood loss.

After receiving an SOS message from the boat’s owner, staff at the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) asked the city’s Emergency Centre 115 to give first aid instructions to the boat's crew members.  In addition, the Da Nang MRCC sent out its ship SAR 412 to help the injured crew member.

The rescue ship arrived on the scene at 11pm the same day to bring the fisherman back to the city for further treatment.
