Minister urges more action on relocation of railway station
During a recent meeting with the Da Nang authorities, the Minister of Transport, Mr Dinh La Thang, raised his concerns over the delayed implementation of a project, which began in 2004, to move the city's railway station out of the city centre. He urged local relevant agencies to complete a preliminary plan for the relocation work by September in order to ensure that the project’s official plan would be approved by the end of this year.
A representative from the project’s planner, the Transport Investment and Construction Consultancy JSC, said that the project is consistent with an adjusted master plan for the railway sector over the 2013 - 2020 period with a vision towards 2030, and with the city’s urban development plans.

The city’s new railway station will consist of both passenger and freight terminals. The 33ha passenger terminal will be located in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Minh Ward, whilst the 25ha freight terminal will be in the district’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward.
The new location, on the western side of the city, will easily connect with an old railway track on the Do (Red) Bridge and a new project to run the railway through the Hai Van Tunnel.
The 1st stage of the project will involve a new 16km-long railway track, the passenger terminal, and 6 bridges. The construction cost is estimated at around 7 trillion VND.
