Since the start of the year, the authorities of Da Nang's Thanh Khe District have introduced measures which have proved effective in stopping beggars and wandering vendors, and the illegal distribution of leaflets and the posting of adverts in the district.

A reward of 200,000 VND is being offered to people who report beggars, wandering vendors and illegal leaflet distributors through the district’s hot lines: 0511 3811882 and 0906 029614.

In addition, a reward of 300,000 VND is being given to people who report cases in the district of illegal adverts on power poles and at T-junctions, intersections, alleys and other public areas, any shops leasing motorbikes featuring loudspeakers for advertising purposes, and illegal street vendors and musicians.

In addition, anyone who reports local businesseses posting adverts in local public areas or forcing the elderly, children, and the disabled to work as beggars gets 500,000 VND each.

As a result, between January and August, a total of 10 violations relating to illegal leaflet distribution and adverts were reported in the district’s Thac Gian Ward, and the informers were given 2 million VND in total.

The 'Free Adverts Corner' on Tran Cao Van Street

In an attempt to stop illegal leaflet distribution and adverts in the district, the district’s Youth Union has established a 'Free Adverts Corner' at 352 Dien Bien Phu Street.  In particular, adverts from local individuals and businesses are allowed to be displayed free of charge here for 10 days.

After 3 months of implementation, the 'Free Adverts Corner' idea received strong support from locals, and hundreds of adverts have been placed there.

Following the success of this model, the district’s Youth Union has recently created another 2 such corners which are located on Tran Cao Van Street and in front of the Chinh Gian Market on Thai Thi Boi Street.
