On Monday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan and representatives from the State-owned Viet Nam Railways Corporation (VRC) discussed ways to ensure railway traffic order and safety.

The Deputy General Director of the VRC, Mr Pham Cong Trinh, said that a detailed technical design for building a railway track passing though the north-west traffic axis No 1 has been fully completed.  The work will be started as soon as approval is granted by the municipal People's Committee.

The national railway sector will give funding to build a road alongside a section of the railway between the city’s Hue T-junction and the Hoa Cam overpass as soon as possible.  The 5.492km-long and 5m-wide road will have 1.5m-wide pavements.  It will also feature dual-level corrugated metal fences which will be 3m away from the outer edge of the railway.

Rubbish bins are to be placed in all carriages of trains by later this year in order to deter passengers from throwing litter onto the railway tracks.  In addition, the VRC will make suitable adjustments to train schedules in order to avoid arrivals at the city’s Thanh Khe railway station during rush hours, which can cause traffic congestion.

The VRC will also carefully consider reporting the arrival of trains 5 minutes in advance to the guards who are on duty at local railways crossings with barriers in order to improve traffic safety.
