On Tuesday afternoon, a discussion about effective ways to ensure security and safety for visitors to the city, and how to raise awareness of these issues among local accommodation providers, took place at the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST).

According to the Department, over recent months some of the city’s hotels have received complaints from visitors about property losses from hotel rooms, the illegal use of drugs in rooms, and food poisoning.

In an attempt to solve these problems, the city’s Police Department has established anti-robbery teams to ensure security and safety for visitors to the city.  Meanwhile, the DCST has urged local hotels to increase checks and tighten their management of food safety and hygiene, especially during the peak tourist season and in the hot weather.

From now until 2017, numerous international events will be taking place across the city including the Da Nang International Marathon 2015, the Japan-Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival 2015 and the 2015-16 Clipper Race.  In addition, the 5th Asian Beach Games will be held here in July 2016, and the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit is in October 2017.

To meet the increasing number of domestic and international visitors expected in the city during these above-mentioned events, the focus will be on increasing the quality of services at local hotels, effectively implementing tourism promotion activities, improving the local tourism facilities, and enhancing the professional skills of tourism sector employees.
