Youth Union cooperation with Salavan Province in Laos
On Tuesday, representatives from youth unions in Da Nang and Salavan Province in Laos signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the city. The signing ceremony was witnessed by over 100 Youth Union members from the two locations.
Under the MoU, the two sides will actively implement various activities to deepen their bilateral solidarity. The focus will be on exchanging professional skills amongst Youth Union officials from the 2 localities and widely publicising mutual historical traditions to their members. This will help young people to develop civilised lifestyles and promote their own cultural identity and traditions in their localities.
Importance will be attached to an appeal for public donations to implement social welfare programmes in the Laotian province, including buying equipment for the operation of the local youth union and giving scholarships to poor studious members.
A club for Lao students in Da Nang, which will be under the management of the Da Nang Student Association, will be established in the near future.
Over recent years, Youth Union members from both locations have participated in many joint social and charitable activities in the Laotian province. These have included cultural and sporting exchange programmes, free medical examinations and treatment for around 2,000 local poor people each year, and computer awareness programmes for local children.
