Centuries-old antiques found inside shipwrecks on display
A hoard of 1,100 antiques salvaged from shipwrecks off the coast of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces are on display in Tan Hiep Island commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam Province.
The exhibition is being jointly organised by the Hoi An Centre for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation and the Doan Anh Duong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.
The collection includes ancient pottery and porcelain made in the Chu Dau village in Hai Duong Province between the 15th and 16th centuries, which were then found near Cu Lao Cham island, Quang Nam.
Another 700 pieces of pottery and porcelain dated about 800 years old were discovered off Binh Son district, Quang Ngai.
They were donated by Doan Anh Duong Company, which is licensed to explore the waters off Quang Ngai Province. Last year, the company handed over 1,500 Chu Dau ancient pottery and porcelain pieces to the Quang Nam museum.
