Over the past 4 decades, Da Nang has seen numerous positive results in its foreign affairs.  These achievements have been mainly attributed to the guidance and active support of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the close leadership of the city leaders, and the great efforts made by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs and others involved in local foreign affairs.

The 2007 - 2015 period saw a remarkable increase in the number of visits made by foreign officials to the city - the city leaders welcomed over 6,400 visiting guests from around 728 international delegations.  Amongst them were the President of the People's Republic of China, the Greek and Singaporean Presidents, the Japanese Crown Prince, and the General Secretary and the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos.

During the period, the city has witnessed fruitful results from its bilateral relationships with many countries around the world.  In addition, the city has signed 62 Memoranda of Understanding to establish cooperative ties with 34 localities from 16 countries.

Most notably, Da Nang has affirmed its position and vital role in the cooperation with localities along the East-West Economic Corridor and ASEAN member nations, and in the multilateral cooperation with large international forums and organisations.
