Following a ruling issued by the Da Nang People’s Committee, the municipal Union of Science and Technology Associations is required to give its opinions and recommendations on the city’s large-scale programmes and important policies relating to certain local aspects.  In addition, the Union will take responsibility for supervising the implementation of these programmes and policies.

The aspects are science and technology, education and training, health, culture, developing local intellectuals and other social issues, along with any projects developed by central government agencies or local Party organisations who want to ask for the Union's opinions or supervision.

In addition, the Union and its member associations will give their opinions on and supervise other local projects and policies which have a great influence on the city’s socio-economic development, local welfare, natural resources and the environment.  

With regard to any central government-developed projects deployed in the city, the Union can give their suggestions to the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the city’s PC about asking relevant central government agencies to handle problems arising from the implementation of these projects.
