Construction of Hoang Sa Exhibition House to start next month
At a meeting on Monday, Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung urged local relevant agencies to submit their dossiers of architectural designs and construction plans for the Hoang Sa Exhibition House to the city’s PC for approval no later than 1 October in order for the building work to begin about 10 days later.
The beach-front project will cover an area of 1,200m2 at the corner of the Hoang Sa and Phan Ba Phien streets in Son Tra District’s Man Thai Ward and will cost 40 billion VND from the city’s budget.

Vice Chairman Dung also stressed the need to gather the opinions of local experts before developing detailed plans for the design and display of exhibits, and then complete the plans as soon as possible. More historical documents and artifacts for display should continue to be collected from individuals and organisations at home and abroad.
He also highlighted the spiritual significance of this project in re-affirming Viet Nam’s sacred sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago. Therefore, all the progress on the project’s dossiers and displaying the artifacts, as well as the ceremonies to officially start the work and open its doors to the public, should reflect the project's great significance.
In a competition launched in 2013, an architectural design themed ‘Viet Nam’s Sovereign Seal’ was chosen as the design for the exhibition house. It was created by a group of architects from Japan's Wright Architecture Company - Fuminori Minakami from Japan and Viet Nam's Tran Quoc Thanh and Nguyen Huy Quang.
