Drainage problems to be solved by 2018
During a recent interview with a reporter from the Da Nang Newspaper, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Construction, Mr Nguyen Van Nam, said that the city’s urban drainage problems will be resolved by 2018.
Deputy Director Nam reported that there are now 58 flood points in the city, a decrease of 37 compared with 2011. Recently 9 of them have been upgraded, and they are waiting to be tested for their drainage efficiency over the coming rainy season. He added that his Department and district-level People’s Committees were assessing the extent of flooding at these upgraded points during the recent storm No 3.

In the immediate future, the Department will continue cooperating with local relevant agencies to keep a close watch on these upgraded hotspots to make sure that they don't flood again. Special attention will also be paid to upgrading the remaining flood points as part of the city's Sustainable Development Project.
