Food hygiene violations at mooncake-making establishments
During inspection visits to 2 mooncake-making establishments in Da Nang on Monday, a central government interdisciplinary team for checking food safety and hygiene in the build up to the Mid-autumn Festival found that both did not meet the city’s food safety and hygiene standards.
The team asked the city’s relevant agencies to temporarily suspend the operations of the most serious case. In addition, the municipal departments of Health, and Industry and Trade were urged to undertake further investigations into the 2 establishments in order to ensure the quality of mooncakes before, during and after the festival.
Since the start of this year, hundreds of baking facilities across the city have been granted food safety and hygiene certificates. The Departments of Health, and Industry and Trade, have collected around 800 food samples, 68 of which were found to contain Escherichia coli (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus bacterium and borax.
