'Making the World Cleaner 2015' campaign launched
Over 700 participants from Da Nang’s government departments and agencies, members of local organisations and associations, and residents of Hoa Vang District attended a ceremony at the district’s Administrative Centre on Saturday to launch the ‘Making the World Cleaner 2015’ campaign.
Addressing the event, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, took the opportunity to appeal for practical and meaningful actions from local individuals and organisations in order to protect the environment and cope with climate change for the city’s sustainable development. In particular, the focus will be on raising public awareness about environmental protection, and making environmental protection consciousness into self-consciousness reflected in their actions.
After the launch ceremony, the attendees took park in a parade on Highway 14B and ADB5 street, both in the district’s Hoa Tien Commune, and along other nearby streets. They also became involved in cleaning up the environment and removing illegal advertisements along Highway 14B.
On the morning of the same day, 200 Youth Union members from the city’s Department of Natural Resources and the Environment were involved in clean-up activities at the Dao Xanh (Green Island) Lake.
